About A

A. Kershaw is an animator and comic artist whose main interests lie in, as they tell us;

“Storytelling, art, fairytale fantasy, cruel magic, film and animation, literature and poetry, horses, dead things, the eternal anxiety of the eighties, folklore, melodic death metal, the Mountain Goats, and witches.” – Kershaw

The list is likely to go on, and on, and on.

Currently studying Animation at Edinburgh College of Art, their main focus is on creating charming comic art and illustration, and any opportunity to combine this with animation is a bonus. Endless experimentation with styles and mediums, with a view to developing heavy atmospheres and enhancing a twisting and turning narrative means Kershaw never fails to slot their work bang in the middle of the fantasy horror genre;

“Anything that concerns the strange and impossible things living between the linings of the world, like the tiny scattered finger bones behind your wallpaper.” – Kershaw

Their most impressive work to date is the ongoing web-comic, which can be read here: Tuppence for Stardust (we won’t give away any details, it’s far better to discover this fantastical visual universe yourself). And of course, their animated works have been quite rightly awarded, achieving both Winner of Best Animation in FilmG Alba Gaelic Film Festival for the film Morag Agus-an t’Each-Uisge, and Graphic Artist for Winning Group in Warsaw Film School Game Jam 2016 for Orpheus: The Dark Domain.

You’d be a fool not to immerse yourself in their thrillingly mystical storytelling, especially when it follows their much loved “scary little girls with too much hair.” – Kershaw
