About Arran
Arran Stamper is an Edinburgh based illustrator whose work exemplifies her refusal to turn down a challenge with her portfolio which includes both delicate repetitive patterns and loud cartoons and everything in between.
Arran, who is heavily involved in her role as Exhibitions Manager in the Edinburgh University Design Society, thinks of herself as an illustrator and designer. She takes particular delight in character design having produced a huge portfolio of captivating creatures both for work and pleasure.
She has an incredible ability to put a physical character to an intangible emotion making her work easily accessible to all audiences. Her individual sense of humour produces characters that exaggerate brutally honest elements of the human condition.
A favourite being the community of Aliens drawn in biro she is producing for her degree show this year which does this exactly by looking at different components of human characteristics and also how they interact, "and then you give them tentacles and they become hilarious!" Arran explains. Whilst she does have a uniquely identifiable style she also loves collaborating. Her work ethic, attention to detail and a want to be challenged make her an ideal team player.
She is also an avid problem solver; nothing can stop this illustrator in her tracks. Somewhat of an oxymoron, this doodling perfectionist is never without a pen in her hand; Arran’s brain is always churning out new ideas, drawing inspiration from anything and everything.
