About Seren
Seren Metcalfe is not hanging about.
Every day produces more works for this artist, many of these being via social media (whether she is aware of this or not). Her presence online and her ability to create relevance with her work is one of the many positives to her being an artist with youth heavily on their side. Her ear is pressed so closely to the ground of the art scene, that Seren could tell you the sound of tarmac.
Seren flits between many artistic outputs, and many of her projects will incorporate multiple. She describes herself as a ‘conceptual performer, visual artist and poet’, but anyone looking over her catalogue at work would say that those titles just touch the surface.
Her education in art is constant, from studying it at college level (and getting noticed even then), foundation level, and then going on to university level, her background knowledge allows her to push ideas that others may not have the confidence to even take out of a sketch book. Having finished her foundation at Leeds College of Art, which is prestigious enough, Seren has moved onto the renowned Slade School of Fine Arts. This will open up a new chapter in her artistic progression, if just simply by placing her in London, a sharp contrast to the artistic landscape of the North. The frequency of art events in London should see a diary busier than that which Seren has already had – which has not been quiet.
